Defective product information

The Cabinet Office decided to start a system, accepting accident information related to a defect of consumer appliance in March 20, 2007. It will move forward from 2008.[1]

The information of defective products has been gathered in each government ministries. However, there is no procedure exchange such information. Last year, there was an accident that a finger of infant was cut by a shredder when he entered his finger in it. The National Consumer Affairs Centre had the information. But it took 2 months at the METI statement that the existence of the accident was revealed generally. The suitable measure by the administrative body was delayed, too, [2]

On the new system, a consumer can write the information, which is related to serious damage, to the web site held by National Consumer Affairs Centre. The centre analyzes and every administrative bodies including local government can access the data base, other than publishing it generally. .[3]
